Perry Herst Prize

University Community Service Center

The Perry Herst Prize recognizes the achievement of two-three graduating seniors in the College who have successfully integrated their academic studies with community engagement in a way that has enriched both sets of activities.

  • The distinctive feature of this award is its emphasis on the students' meaningful and impactful integration of study and service. Mere participation or leadership in student organizations on campus does not ordinarily qualify a student for this award.
  • In considering nominations, the selection committee will consider the extent to which the nominees have allowed social responsibility to shape their academic career (and vice versa) throughout the entire course of their studies at the University.
  • Each awardee (up to 3) will receive a $2,500 award along with a certificate and will be honored at the University Service Recognition Reception.
  • Self-nominations are not accepted for this award. Students must be nominated either by members of the University (students, faculty, staff) or by members of the broader community.

Please Note: Be sure to verify the student's eligibility before submitting a nomination.
